Yamil Velazquez Fraticelli, 74, of Fayetteville passed away on Monday April 22nd 2024. He was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, January 22nd 1950.
Yamil served in the United States Army with 7th Special Forces Group for over twenty years; he loved serving his country. His other love was teaching and he began working at Sandhills Community College in September of 1996 and retired in 2022. He loved helping people realize their dreams and to grow through education.
His interests and hobbies through the years included, playing guitar, shooting, reading, singing, and a thirst for knowledge which he explored through many school courses and degrees.
Left to honor his memory are his wife Lidia Lopez, and his son Christopher Yamil Velazquez. He was deeply loved by his community, peers and family.
A memorial service is planned for 4pm, Saturday, April 27th 2024, in the chapel of Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service and Crematory. The family will greet friends following the service.
