Vernie Lee Treadway

Retired US Air Force MSgt. Vernie Lee Treadway, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in his home.

Vernie was born in Claremont, West Virginia to the late Roy and Eddie Treadway, as the 9th child of 12 children.  He served 23 years in the Air Force including a tour of duty in Vietnam.  He then worked for the next 26 years in civil service as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic.  Apart from work, he loved to play golf.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 9 am at Sullivan’s Highland Chapel.  The burial, with military honors, will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

Vernie is survived by his sister, Eddie Matthews; brother, Robert Treadway; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Miki.
