Verna Ruth Reece

Verna Ruth Reece, 86, of Jacksonville, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at the home of Janna and Loy Bean, her daughter and son-in-law, on Friday, September 3, 2021.

She was born in Tishomingo, OK, on May 19, 1935, to the late John and Mae Walker. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Mendell Walker.



Verna was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed helping family and friends, from hemming a dress to learning sign language, in order to communicate with a neighbor. She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.



Left to cherish Verna’s memory are her sons, Stephen Reece, John Reece, David Reece, and Scott Reece; daughters, Sharon Kamma and Janna Bean; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.



The family will welcome friends at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral service from 1pm to 2pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Her funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2pm. The service will conclude with a burial at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Oh my I'm so very sorry to hear this. Very fond memories of her from Immanuel. She made me a beautiful photo album for my wedding pictures. One of my favorite people. I will be praying for the family. Very sweet lady.

I am so sorry. I have happy memories of her from Immanuel. She and Hector loved to joke together then and I'm sure they are carrying on again!!!! She was a blessing. Your whole family will be in my prayers.

So very sorry to learn of Verna's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. She has been missed so much the last several years on Ellington St. We were very lucky to have had Verna and Wayne as neighbors. Two of the finest people we have ever known.
