Vera H. Shippey

Vera H. Shippey, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 with her family at her side.

She was born in Stewart County, Georgia on December 19, 1926.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Paul Shippey; sisters, Candy Pearson, Thelma Whitworth, and Sue Astor; brothers, James and Ray Harbuck; and son-in-law, Troy Mercer.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Paulette Mercer of Fayetteville and Susan Shippey of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Benny Shippey and wife, Mary of Beverly Beach, FL; granddaughter, Meredith Alvarez of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Edward Mercer and wife, Karen of Fayetteville; great-grandsons, Alex Mercer, Miles Mercer, and Gabriel Alvarez; sister-in-law, Mildred Harbuck of Stockbridge, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Community Hospice for their passion and care of not only Vera, but her family.

A graveside service  officiated by Tim Long is planned for 3 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
