Mrs. Velva Williams Canady, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Whispering Pines Nursing Home.

Mrs. Canady was a member of Altrusa Club, American Business Womens Association and the N.C. Hairdressers Association.

Mrs. Canady is survived by her husband, R. Bertus Cannady of Fayetteville; a daughter, Marilyn Stout of Fayetteville; a brother, Odell Williams and wife Ann of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Leigh Beauchamp and husband Larry, Amanda Yencsko and husband Mark, and Elizabeth Spry and husband Lynn; and two great-grandchildren, Reagan and Peyton.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at Hay Street United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church with the Rev. David Harvin officiating.

Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
