Louis Fred Smith, USMC Ret. 1st SGT, age 84 a resident of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.
Louis was born on September 21, 1930, in New Orleans, LA, to the late John Joseph Smith and Myrtle Boulet Smith.
He retired from the United States Marine Corps with over 22 years of service; decorate by numerous medals and commendations for his valor.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is one son Keith Daniel Smith.
Surviving to carry on his legacy is his loving wife of over 64 years Joy Pomes Smith, of Fayetteville, NC; one daughter Kim Smith Fourtunia, and her husband U.S. Army CSM Anthony M. Fourtunia Sr., of Fayetteville, NC; one son Kevin David Smith, of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild soon to be born.
