U.S. Army Ret. SGM John Timothy Diffin, 94, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Womack Army Medical Center.

He was born on March 13, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY.

He was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.  He served with the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and retired from the 82nd Airborne Division G-2 in 1975.  He was the recipient of seven purple hearts and numerous other medals for heroism. He was the proprietor of Diffin’s Auto Emporium.  John was a lover of his family, children, dogs, cats, and young soldiers.  John T. Diffin was an American Patriot who sacrificed for almost 34 years in the defense of our great nation that he loved.

He was preceded in death by a son John Timothy Diffin, Jr.

John T. Diffin was survived by one son Joseph Thomas Diffin, of Fayetteville, NC; one daughter Julia Theresa Avni and husband Amir, of Tel Aviv, Israel; six grandchildren Angelica Bell, Jacqueline Middlebrook, Jessica Middlebrook, RileyAnn Diffin, Ava Avni and Joseph Thomas Diffin Jr. and a host of nephews and nieces.  

The family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Monday, January 2, 2017  at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service Chapel with the rendering of full military honors.
