U.S. Army Ret. SFC Joel Delfino Montoya, 77, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at his home.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran serving two tours and received numerous medals and commendations.
He was born on April 26, 1936, in Guadalupe County, NM, to the late Juan and Candida Chavez Montoya.
He is survived by his three sons Delfino J. Montoya, of Albuquerque, NM, Jordahn F. Montoya, of Fayetteville, NC, and Tony Carter, of Columbus, OH; two grandchildren Joshua and Matthew Montoya; his companion Gail Pittman, of Fayetteville, NC; and numerous cousins.
Graveside services with the rendering of full military honors will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, in Spring Lake, NC.
