U.S. Army Ret. SFC Jesus Florez, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, in Autumn Care of Raeford.
He proudly served in the US Army in the 7th Special Forces Group during the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and numerous other medals and commendations.
He was born on January 7, 1930, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Manuel and Elenora Florez. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Evelyn Florez and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Boosz (George) of Paso Robles, CA, Richard Florez (Debra) of Hope Mills, NC, Paula Livingston (Chuck) of Great Falls, MT, David Florez of Fayetteville, NC, Andrew Florez (Cynthia) of St. Pauls, NC; two sisters Sarah Valdez of San Fernando, CA, and Ester Granados of California; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be private at Lafayette Memorial Park.
