Mr. Willie T. Moorman, Jr., 72, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born on March 25, 1943 in Adrian, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Evelyn Moorman, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tamako Moorman; son, Melvin Moorman, and grandson, Lamont Lee.
Willie honorably served his country as a MSG in the U.S. Army. The majority of his career was spent at Ft. Bragg where he earned numerous commendations. After retiring from the Army, he worked as the Lead Maintenance Tech at Hickory Hill Apartments for 13 years where he was not just an employee but family as well.
He was a member of the Davis Bridge Aeromodelers Flying Club. If the sun was shining, he and his dog, Mylo, could be found on the flying field with his buddies flying airplanes and telling jokes.
He is survived by his daughter, Valencia âKikoâ Moorman of Raleigh; son, Anthony Moorman of Columbus, GA; granddaughters, Kierra Angell, Camille Foggy, Bianca Ward; grandson, Reginald Moorman; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Johnnie Mae Hollaway of Lawrenceville, GA, Juanita âAnnâ Dixon, Martha Caroline Glass of Melbourne, FL, and Gloria Jean Wilcox of Tacoma, WA; brothers, Leon âStickâ Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, Reginald âSkeeterâ Jackson of Jacksonville, FL, Clinton âLightfootâ Gibson of Swainsboro, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Mylo.
The family will receive friends at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral service on Thursday, June 17, 2015 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Dr. Tryon Lancaster.
