U.S. Army Ret. MSG Gerard Philibert Cunningham

U.S. Army Ret. MSG Gerard Philibert Cunningham, 84, of Fayetteville, NC passed

away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born on September 3, 1934 in Webster

Groves, Mo.

He was a 31 year veteran of the US Army, a proud member of the 10th Special

Forces and served two combat tours in Viet Nam, receiving numerous awards and

commendations. Gerard was also a member of the Special Forces Association. He

loved his family, his church, his country and was very dedicated to each.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cunningham; 2 sons, John Cunningham, Gary

Cunningham and wife Gwen; 2 Grandsons, Gary Cunningham II, wife Jodi and their

children Harrison, Mackenzie, Shelby, Jaxon and Baily; Andrew Cunningham and

wife Amanda; 2 Step-Daughters, Deborah Tatum and husband, Terry; Karen Warren-

Petsche; 5 Step-Grand children, Rebecca Tatum, Trey Tatum, Patrick Petsche,

Frank Petsche III, David Warren and wife, Monica and their children, Victoria

Marie and Danny; and Nephew Chris Jackson.

He will always be with us in our hearts.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 9:45 a.m. until

10:45 a.m. at Sullivan s Highland Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow

at 11:00 a.m. in Sullivan s Highland Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Maurice

Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery

with the rendering of full military honors.
