U.S Army Ret. LTC John Henry Schultz, 88, of Fayetteville, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.
He was born on August 9, 1926, to Thomas and Dessie Schultz in Indiana County, PA.
After 26 years in the U.S. Army, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his career as an engineer, he earned numerous medals of accommodation.
John enjoyed being a Mason, as well as volunteering with the Red Cross at Womack Army Medical Center. He had a passion for gardening and all things outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline. He is survived by his daughter; Joyce Williams, and her husband, Jim, of Wade, NC, one granddaughter; Ashley Hinkel; one grandson, Jack Williams; and one great-grandson, Jayden Williams.
His family will receive friends at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service in Fayetteville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 22, 2014. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Archie Barringer, at Lafayette Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society (FAPS) at P.O. Box 58195, Fayetteville, NC 28305.
