U.S. Army Ret. CW2 Walter Joseph Kenny, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013, at the VA Nursing Home, in Fayetteville, NC.
He was born on August 3, 1940, in Fermeuse, Newfoundland, Canada, to the late Austin J. Kenny, and Bride Cahill Kenny.
He was a U.S. Army CW2 retired with numerous medals and commendations who served his country in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by one daughter Debbie Hopson, and husband Allen, of Fayetteville, NC; and one son Vaughn Kenny, of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren Sarah, Shelby, Elizabeth, Phillip, Caroline, Katherine, and Walker.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Cross Creek Presbyterian Church with Dr. Joshua Owen officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral services.
Private burial will be in Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL, at a later date.
