James Sydney Finch departed this life to go to the room Jesus has prepared for him in His Fatherâs house on 17 December 2016.
James retired from the U.S. Army with a rank of Chief warrant Officer (CW4) after 23 years of service, then from Kelly Springfield Tire/Goodyear Tire after 17 years.
James will be greatly missed not only by his family through blood and marriage but also by many for whom he was a treasured father figure.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Christine Winstead of Washington, Patricia Ward and her husband Mitchell of Zebulon; son, Michael Finch and wife, Barbara of Fayetteville; Cathy Bain and her husband Daniel of Stedman, Melanie Garrett and her husband Rodney of Parkton, Eddie Grooms and his wife Karen of Oak Island, and Kelly Grooms and his wife Sherry of Archdale. His retired years were spent surrounded by loving grandchildren, Wendy Woolard, Andrea Davis, Jason Ward, Christopher Ward, Natalie Lambert, Cullen Finch, and Megan Huddleston. James was also blessed with ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on 21 December 2016 at 1:00 pm at Fayetteville Community Church, followed immediately by a celebration of life.
