U.S. Air Force Ret. CMSGT Robert Cox, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born on October 24, 1938, in Belfast Ireland to the late John and Mary Flanagan Cox.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 22 years of honorable service receiving numerous medals and commendations to include the Antarctica Service Medal. He also was a retired Civil Service Parachute Specialist.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Joyce Cox, of Fayetteville, NC; two sons Robert B. Cox, and wife Bevin, of Ft. Myers, FL, and Sean Cox, and wife Tiffany of Tampa, FL; and four grandchildren Patrick Cox, Brendan Cox, Caden Cox, and Ruby Cox; three sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service with Father John Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with the rendering of full military honors.
