Thomas S. "Tommy" Melvin

Mr. Thomas S. “Tommy” Melvin, 68, of Gray’s Creek, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at his residence.

Tommy was born May 9, 1954, in Cumberland County to the late C.S. and Annie Ruth Melvin.  He graduated from Gray’s Creek High School in 1972 and then from Fayetteville Technical Institute in 1974.  He began his career working in Raleigh.  He primarily worked in electronics, responsible for the testing of the circuit boards. 

Tommy loved old muscle cars and he was a big Golden State Warriors and New York Yankees fan. Tommy loved all sports and in his younger days he played a lot of basketball, baseball and softball.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 12 noon at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Williams presiding.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Tommy is survived by his girlfriend, Tonja Paris of Youngsville, NC; his brother, Franklin Melvin (Karen) of Gray’s Creek; brother-in-law, Gerald DePastino of St. Joseph, MO; two nephews, Jason Melvin (Casey) of Cullowhee, NC and Antonio DePastino of St. Joseph; two nieces, Nikki Tanner (Eddie) of Amisville, VA and Anna Marie DePastino St. Joseph; two great nephews, Reilly and Griffin Tanner of Amisville; and one great niece, Molly Melvin of Cullowhee.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 am to 12 noon at the church.

Memorials may be made to Marvin United Methodist Church.
