Rudolph Peter Manzano, affectionately known as "Rudy," passed away on March 23, 2025, at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was born on May 2, 1947, in New York, New York, and lived a life characterized by service, dedication, and a deep commitment to family and friends.
Rudy's professional journey led him to an esteemed position as an Inspector for Goodyear Tire Company at their Fayetteville plant, where he was known for his diligence and attention to detail. His work was a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence. Prior to his career at Goodyear, Rudy proudly served in the United States Army for three years, a time that molded his character and instilled in him the values of discipline and resilience.
Outside of his professional life, Rudy had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He particularly loved playing cards, with poker being his favorite game. His passion for the game often brought friends and family together, creating memorable moments filled with laughter and friendly competition.
Rudy is survived by his thirty-eight year live-in companion and caregiver, Sadie "Laurie" Cross and her family, who was a source of unwavering support and love throughout their time together. He is also survived by his nephew, Daniel Manzano, and sister-in-law, Marie Benabese, both of whom reside in Hawaii. They remember him fondly for his warmth and sense of humor.
Rudy will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. He was not only a beloved companion and family member but also a friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will resonate in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Alongside his cherished family and friends, he is preceded in death by his brother, Edmund Manzano, whose memory remains alive in the stories shared by those who loved them both.
