Grady Wrece Edwards, born September 23, 1934, entered heaven’s gates on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Fayetteville, NC.
Born to Marcus and Thelma Edwards, Grady was a true man of God. Preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife Fritzie, and his sisters Faye and Magdalene, and brother Durell.
Grady was a strong believer in Christ, a loving father, grandfather and Pastor to many. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and desired to see all he met come to know the Lord as well. He was tender hearted, faithful, and kind. He loved his wife and children and adored his grandchildren with his very being. He loved pets and they loved him greatly in return. Grady Pastored many churches over his 30 plus years in ministry and brought many souls to a relationship with Christ as a result of his faithful ministry. He also seldom ate an ice cream that he didn’t love!!
In his early years, he served his country in the US Navy as a Naval photographer. Upon retirement from the Navy he went to Southeastern Baptist Seminary and Campbell University where he completed an Associates of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Seminary and Bachelor of Arts from Campbell University.
Grady is survived by his daughter Carolyn and husband Robert Ivey of Fayetteville, son Fred and wife Amy Edwards of Raleigh, his son Gregg and wife Dawn Edwards of Milton, FL; grandchildren Aaron Edwards, Andrew Ivey, Hannah Edwards, and Rebecca Edwards; sisters-in-law Bunny Wieland and husband Gene, Dorie O’Mara, both of Philadelphia, PA; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished dog Rusty.
Grady was loved greatly by all who met him and will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s association.
The family will conduct a memorial service for Grady at noon, on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
