Ret. CWO-4, Vernon A. Hughes, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away in Woodlands Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 6, 1931, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Mr. and Mrs. S.T. and Estella Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hughes of Fayetteville; daughters, Connie Sumerel and husband Rick of Greenville,, SC, Norma Holland and husband Bill of Sumter, SC, Fidgey Aslim and husband Tanju of Woodbridge, VA; sons, Ronald Hughes and wife Bonnie of Goldsboro, Blake Hughes and wife Darlene of Fayetteville, Ray Hughes and wife Di of Aurora, CO, Brian Hughes and wife Lisa of Linden; sister, Barbara Cook and husband Corley of Pageland, SC; brothers, Norman Hughes of Lawrenceville, GA, Bob Hughes, and 9 grandchildren.
The family will conduct a private time of reflection at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
