Rachael Godwin Squires, 90, of Fayetteville, died August 8, 2012 at Carroll S. Roberson Hospice Center. She was born March 1, 1922 in Fayetteville, the daughter of the late William Elbert Godwin and Effie Guy Godwin.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, with the Reverend John Cook officiating. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service in the Gathering Hall at the church.
Mrs. Squires was known for her quick wit, exquisite taste, and delectable and artistic wedding cakes. She was a past member of the Woman's Club of Fayetteville and an active member of Flora McDonald Garden Club, Book Ends Book Club and Snyder Memorialâs Parker Sunday School class at the time of her death. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends and church.
Her brothers, W. E. Godwin, Jr. and David L. Godwin, and a sister, Anne Godwin Grantham, predeceased her.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol Squires Langdon, Dena Squires Lingle and husband, Roland, and Rachael Evette Squires, all of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren, John E. Lingle of Fayetteville and Margaret C. Lingle of Boulder, Colorado.
The family expresses their gratitude to Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center for their loving care during her recent illness.
