Phomma Senesourinh passed away after an extended illness on May 3, 2021 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Phomma was born in Ban Lakhonepheng, Laos on November 2, 1940 to Titta and Opema Senesourinh.
After joining the Royal Lao Army at age 14, he was promoted to the rank of captain and served until the Communist takeover of Laos in 1976.
He married Duangchay in June 1960, and they went on to have five children together.
Phomma escaped Laos with his family after the Communist takeover and briefly settled on a silk farm in Thailand before being sent to the Phanat Nikom Refugee Camp for five years. In August 1984, he immigrated to the United States with his family and ultimately settled in Mountain Lake, Minnesota for many years. In 2011, he and Duangchay moved to live near their sons in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Latsmykham. He is survived by his wife, Duangchay; his four children, Champidone Senesourinh, Thongkham Erickson, Phanat Senesourinh, and Sam Senesourinh; and thirteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1 pm at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
