Phil Thomas Utley

Mr. Phil Thomas Utley, 82, of Eastover, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022, with his family by his side.

Phil was born March 31, 1940, in Cumberland County, NC, to the late James and Doris Utley.  He worked at the Cumberland County Courthouse for 30 years before retiring in 1996.   His last position was as the Chief Court Counselor for Juvenile Probation.

A graveside service will be held at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Eastover, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11 am with Rev. Todd Brady presiding.  The family will receive friends both at the home and following the service at the cemetery.

Phil is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hilda F. Utley; son, Christopher Dane Utley and wife, Kimberly, of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Utley; grandson, Colton Utley; great grandson, Gary Steven Jacobs; brother, William Lee Utley of Fayetteville; sister, Carolyn Waller and husband, Freddie, of Newport, NC; nieces, Carla Woolard and her son, Jeffrey, of Fayetteville and Louisa Hughes and husband Jake; nephew, David Waller and wife Penney and their son Forrest.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Utley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
