Paul Charles DeSessa

Paul Charles DeSessa, 70, of Fayetteville, North Carolina died unexpectedly on March 7, 2022.  His death completely shocked and deeply saddened the family. Paul was born on January 10, 1952 to Daniel Anthony DeSessa and Joanne Claire DeSessa in Summit New Jersey. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Leslie and his sons Matthew and Mark and Mark’s wife, Lesley.

Paul attended Millburn High School and was passionate about science. Paul graduated from Alphonsus College as well as The University of the State of New York, becoming a respiratory therapist, before moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Leslie. He then went onto Anesthesia school at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and Carolinas Healthcare System, eventually becoming a Nurse Anesthetist for over 45 years.

He joined the military in 1982 and served for 12 years earning The Army Achievement Medal before being honorably discharged as a Captain in the United States Army. He became a certified scuba diver and went on diving expeditions in Bermuda and the Keys with his best friend Leslie. He was awarded a Doctor of Biblical Studies Degree, graduating from the Universal Life Church. He served as the former President of the Cross Creek Rifle and Pistol Club, and was a very active member of the 26th Regiment North Carolina Infantry and Carolina Legion, portraying a Surgeon General in the Civil War, having managed one of the country's largest reenacted field hospitals with his son Matthew. He loved following sports with his son Mark, attending Carolina Panthers games with him since 1996.

Paul had a true passion for beekeeping and managing a local food pantry that he and Leslie founded in 2020. Anyone who knew Paul, knew that he was kind, loving, funny, caring, generous, thoughtful, selfless, and always telling stories.

Paul’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say. Contributions in memory of Paul can be made to Paul's Little Pantry: https://www.gofundme.com/f/pauls-little-pantry?utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer.
