US Army Ret. CW4 Nora Bawaan Norton, 74, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024.
She was born in the Philippines on November 18, 1949, to the late Esther and Leon Bawaan. Also preceding her in death is her brother, Henry Bawaan.
Following in the footsteps of her family (Father, Brother, and Sister), Nora proudly served her country in the communications field for the US ARMY based in various locations to include Nuremberg, Ft Benning, and Ft Bragg for a total of 30 yrs. Nora was recognized for various accomplishments, receiving the Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
After Nora’s retirement from the Military, she found a new love in the form of Photography and Quilting. Photography led her to travel to different parts of Europe. She made new friends in the local Quilting community, and had started designing, making, and selling her beautiful quilts.
The family will welcome friends from noon to 1:30pm on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service. At 1:30pm we will proceed to St. John's Episcopal Church for her funeral service at 2pm. The family will have a time of remembrance immediately following the service in the Kyle House.
Left to cherish Nora’s memory are her siblings, Luisa Guinay Andiso, Gloria Simon, Janet Bawaan, Albert Bawaan; and an extended family consisting of numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. Soon after her passing, Nora's beloved dog, Zoey, crossed the rainbow bridge to join Nora.
