Maureen Marth Molter, 67, of Fayetteville, N.C., died Wednesday, Apr. 22, 2015 in Fayetteville, N.C.
Mrs. Molter was born in Easton, Md., the daughter of the late Bernard M. and Katherine A. Marth.
A 1966 graduate of SS Peter & Paul High School in Easton, she earned her bachelorâs degree in elementary education from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Md. in 1970. After a few years of teaching, Mrs. Molter earned a Master of Library Science from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1978. After three years as the director of a media center in the Dorchester Co. (Md.) public schools, she became the director of the medical library at Easton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Molter moved to Fayetteville in 1988, accepting the position of director of the medical library at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. In 1990, she became the director of the Teaching Material Center at Methodist College, a position she held until 2000, when she returned to Easton to care for her mother during her final illness. Mrs. Molter worked in the Talbot Co. (Md.) Library system until she moved back to Fayetteville in 2005. She received an associateâs degree in accounting from Methodist University in 2010 and was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta honor society. In retirement, she was an active member of the Columbiettes at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fayetteville, holding several offices, including president.
Mrs. Molter was married to the late Eugene C. Molter of Chula Vista, Ca. from 1973-1975.
Mrs. Molter is survived by her son Michael C. Molter, daughter-in-law Cheri D. Molter, granddaughter Megan, and step-grandchildren Logan and Caitlyn, all of Fayetteville; a sister, Vivian A. Marth of Fayetteville; and an aunt, Agnes Stem of Westminster, Md.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Apr. 27, 2015 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, Apr. 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
