Karen Sorce Hayes, 56, of Hope Mills, passed away at her home.
She was born in Washington, DC, on February 18, 1959, to Janet Sorce and the late John F. Sorce.
She graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in Environmental Science. She cared for nature had a fondness for collecting rocks and shells. She loved all animals especially her two Akitas.
Preceding Karen in death are her father, John Sorce; sister, Cynthia Sorce; and brother, John Sorce.
Karen is survived by her son, Christopher Hayes of Myrtle Beach, SC; mother, Janet Sorce of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt, Glenda Keel of Myrtle Beach, SC, Bonnie Page of Pawley’s Island, SC; uncles, Andy Page of Fayetteville; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; and her two Akitas, Taz and Rocky.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016, in the chapel of Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park West.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Akita Rescue at donate.rescueme.org/akita.
