Mrs. Rebecca Evans âBeckyâ Ensley, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at age 66.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 17, 2015, in Highland Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. J. Ernest Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in the fellowship hall following the service.
Becky graduated from Aiken High School in Aiken, S.C. and earned a B.S. in Home Economics and Child Development and masters degree in early childhood education from Winthrop College.
The majority of her teaching career was spent with Fort Bragg schools, retiring in 2004. As a devout Christian and member of Highland Presbyterian Church, she was very active in many ministries of the church. Her love of country and community was evident in her involvement in numerous organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Ensley, and her parents, Jim and Mary Lib Evans of Cameron, SC. She is survived by Gayle Courtney (Wayne) of Summerville, S.C., Heyward Evans (Lynne) of Prattville, Ala., Kate Lewis of Ocean Isle Beach, Scott Courtney (Ashley), Emerson, Evan, Erin Courtney Carroll (Steve), Elizabeth, Matthew, Stuart Courtney (Meg), Reyn, James Tracey, Adrien Evans, Carly Evans Powell (Trey), Lindsey Lewis, Karson Lewis, and Evans and Rickenbaker cousins.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to Wounded Warrior Project; or the Becky Ensley Memorial Fund at the Cumberland Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2345, Fayetteville, NC 28302.
