Fayetteville has lost a fine southern lady who lovingly cherished her family and friends. She was surrounded with the same love, kindness and caring that she gave to others as she made her journey to heaven Sunday evening, November 9, 2014.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm, Friday, November, 14 at Maplewood Cemetery, 1621 Duke University Rd, Durham, NC by Reverend Sidney Huggins.
Mrs. Millis was born June 22, 1914, in Durham, NC to David Z. and Wayne Victoria OâBrient. She was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church and Lizzie Lamb Bible Class. She also enjoyed membership in the Womenâs Club, Flora MacDonald Garden Club, Art Museum and Book Ends Book Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archibald E. Millis, her brothers, Calvin V. OâBrient and Wayburn C. OâBrient and sister, Esther O. Hozendorf. She is survived by her sons, A. Edward Millis Jr. and wife Cookie, and David C. Millis and wife Becky; grandsons, Marc J. Millis and wife Angela, Edward A. Millis and wife Jennifer, Jeremy D. Millis; granddaughters, Jennifer A. Millis, Erin R. Millis, and Sarah K. Millis and three great grandchildren, Reid, Rae and Ari.
