Mrs. Maria Lubshenko Bush, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.
She was born in Smela, Ukraine, to the late Efrossinia Prokoperko Lubshenko and Sergei Lubshenko.
While in school during WWII, Maria became a Holocaust victim. She was a founding member of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Fayetteville. Maria taught Russian language courses for the Defense Learning Institute at Fort Bragg.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory four daughters, Maria C. Haight, of Sanford, NC, Diana E. Newman, Caroline Danita Robinson, and Denise Vee, all of Fayetteville, NC; and a son Amos Bush, of Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren, April Byrd, of Jacksonville, NC, Stacie Connerty, of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Brody, of Atlanta, GA, Heather Corrigan, of Dallas, TX, Wendy Clark, of Crestview, FL, Randall Robinson, of Fayetteville, NC, Tyler Bush, of Dallas, TX, Austen Bush, of Dallas, TX, and Tatiana Vee, of Fayetteville, NC and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister Natasha Lubshenko, of Smela, Ukraine.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, 733 Southern Avenue, Fayetteville, NC, 28306.
