Mrs. Katherine Marendetes Canavos

Mrs. Katherine Marendetes Canavos, 97, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Village Green Nursing Home.

Mrs. Canavos was born on September 21, 1916 in Agea Trias, Greece. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Demetrios Marendetes and Mrs. Paraskevy Marendetes.

She was preceded in death by her son, Nestor Canavos.

She is survived by her two daughters, Frederika Skenteris and husband Pete, of Fayetteville, NC and Rodanthy Gioldasis and husband Chris of Boston, Mass.; one brother and two sisters of Greece; a daughter-in-law, Eleftheria Canavos of Fayetteville, NC; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be conducted from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Trisagion at 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral services will be held at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Alexander Papagikos, Fr. Chrysostom Manuel, and Fr. Vlahos, officiating. Burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4.
