Mrs. JoAnn B. Crumpler, 82, passed peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017 at her home in Fayetteville.
JoAnn was born on March 18, 1935 in Asheville, NC to the late Albert J. Cowan and Beulah V. Powers. Employed by the State of North Carolina, she worked as a deputy clerk in the Recorders Court and later, the Estates Division of the Superior Court of Cumberland County until her retirement. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Deborah Ann Crumpler Hiatt of Winston-Salem, NC.
JoAnn is survived by her spouse of 65 years, James A. Crumpler; daughter, Vicki Crumpler Callahan and husband Pete; son-in-law, Kevin Hiatt; four grandchildren, Adrienne Blair Gillis, Tyler Ray Gillis, Ryan Patrick Callahan and Meghan Colleen Callahan; and one great-grandson, Hiatt Patrick Reeves.
She is also survived by her brother, Detrace âRickâ Blair and his wife Mary; and three nieces, Lorri Mercer, Tiffany Eisentrout and Ashley Blair.
The family will receive visitors from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Friday, March 24 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service and Crematory of Fayetteville, 610 Ramsey Street. A private family graveside service will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
