Joan Faye Cudd, 78, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014, with her family at her bedside.
She was born on August 23, 1936, in Buena Vista, VA, to Lawrence and Margaret Slough.
Faye was a wife and mother first, but she rocked many newborns as a cuddler in the NICU at Cape Fear Valley Hospital as a volunteer. She was known for her great sense of humor and her crochet dish cloths that she made with love for her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Cudd; daughters, Mary Lee Cudd of Fayetteville, Linda Cudd, of Enon, OH, Shannon Cudd, of Fayetteville; brother, Lawrence "Sonny" Slough, Jr., of Buena Vista, VA; brother-in-laws, Frank Rader, of Buena Vista, VA, Jim Baker, of Buchanan, VA; honorary daughters, Debbie Slazer and Renee Delventhal; and her beloved Maltese, Sophie.
The family will receive friends in the Fireside Room at Village Baptist Church from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Marten Spena, officiating. Burial will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in Green Hill Cemetery located in Buena Vista, VA.
