Eva Anna (Mitterndorfer) âMemeâ Kendrick, 89, died Friday, October 21 in Fayetteville, of natural causes.
She was born May 8, 1927, in Linz, Austria, the daughter of the late Ignaz Mitterndorfer and Franziska (Semrad) Mitterndorfer. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Chester D. Kendrick; and a brother, the late Otto Mitterndorfer and wife Veronika, also deceased.
Eva and her husband owned the S&K Cleaners, Mayflower Dry Cleaners and Kendrick Real Estate in Fayetteville during the 1960s-1980s. She was a member of Beulah Hill Baptist Church in Pinehurst, NC and of the 187th Lady Rakkasans. She also was a loving wife, caring mother, businesswoman and avid bingo player.
Her husband was the late Command Sergeant Major of the 82d Airborne Division, Chester D. Kendrick. She is survived by a son, Mark C. Kendrick, Ph.D., and wife Sharon (Greenland) Kendrick, Ph.D. of Fayetteville; and a daughter, Sonja (Kendrick) Rothstein and husband Manfred Rothstein, M.D..
Other family survivors include granddaughters 1st Sergeant Dana R. Rothstein of Dover, DE and Nitza M. Rothstein, J.D. of Fayetteville; niece Helga and spouse Alfredo Cardenas and children Debby, Jeffrey and Patrick, all of Fayetteville; and niece Ingrid and spouse Gerwald Tometschek and their children Ralf and Daniela, all of Salzburg, Austria.
Extended family include Ron and Brigit Ballard and their children Charlene and Daniel, of Fayetteville; caregiver Rose Wood of Fayetteville; and her physician, Dr. Jorge Franco and staff of Fayetteville.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Fort Bragg, NC with Rev. Archie Barringer officiating.
