Mrs. Elizabeth Theofield Keller, 97, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Fayetteville. Mrs. Keller was born Annie Elizabeth Theofield on June 22, 1917 to Anna and Peter Theofield, who owned and operated Grove Street Market. Mrs. Keller was predeceased by five siblings: John P. Theofield of Silver Spring, Maryland; Helen T. Quick of Louisville, Kentucky; Peter Theofield, Jr., Margaret Theofield, and Frank Theofield, all of Fayetteville.
Surviving are nieces, Lois Quick, California, Anne Quick Bigford, Virginia, Janet Theofield Stevens, Maryland, Pam Steen of Sanford, NC, nephew, Bruce Quick, Kentucky and several great nieces.
From approximately 1946 to 1951, Mrs. Keller lived and worked in Japan supporting Dr. Gordon Prange, Chief of General Douglas MacArthur's 100-person historical staff. Prior to her retirement and return to Fayetteville, Mrs. Keller worked for the Department of the Army and the Internal Revenue Service in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Kellerâs life-long interests included playing bridge with her friends, reading, local history, and gardening.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 9:00 am to 9:45 am at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m with the Rev. Ed Beddingfield officiating. Internment will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery.
