Cynthia Edelmann Billings, 74, of Fayetteville, departed this life on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at Hay Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Blackman officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Born May 16, 1941, in Chicago, IL, she was a retired teacher for the Cumberland County Schools. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bernice Edelmann.
She is survived by her husband William Billings of Fayetteville; daughter Becky Lane and husband Matt of Erie, PA; son James Green and wife Allison of Mooreseville, NC; brother Richard Edelmann and wife Darlene of Tucson, AZ; and four grandchildren: Jackson Green, Lydia Lane, William Green, and Nora Lane.
Cynthia was a devoted mother, wife, and friend to many. She was a graduate of Knox College, Ball State University, and East Carolina University. A very talented musician, Cynthia was a member of the Hay Street Church choir for 50 years and also directed the church youth and handbell choirs for sixteen years. She was also a charter member of the Cumberland Oratorio Singers and Cantate Womenâs Choir.
