Christa S. Staszczak, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Christa was born on April 26, 1928 in Darmstadt, Germany to the late Katharina and Johann Duckheim.  Christa grew up in Germany and graduated from the Frauenfach Schule (Women Trade School) in Darmstadt with a Master’s Degree in Home Economics.

After applying her talents and education to a full career in the German Services industry, and after caring for her aging parents until they passed, Christa moved to the United States and spent the final 16 years making Fayetteville her home with her daughter and son-in-law.  Christa found her greatest joy in her family, especially being with her dog, Leon - her daily companion.  Christa was an avid animal and nature lover who also enjoyed cooking, needle point, and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda White (husband William “Chris”); two grandchildren, Andreas Walsh (wife Mia), Susan Johannes (husband Ulrich); four great grandsons, Marian Johannes, Carter Walsh, Cameron Walsh, and Carson Walsh; one brother, Gerhard Duckheim (wife Anneliese); two nephews, Harald Duckheim (wife Jutta) and Rainer Duckheim (wife Birgit).  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Staszczak; and her brother, Hans Duckheim (wife Charlotte).

She attended the John F. Kennedy Chapel on Ft. Bragg, NC.  

A memorial service officiated by Chaplain Dave Curlin, will be held at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L St. NW, Washington, DC 20037, humanesociety.org or the American Red Cross (redcross.org).

Services are entrusted to Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
