Mrs. Chellie Ward Benton

Mrs. Chellie Ward Benton, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013. Mrs. Benton's funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at the funeral home with the service immediately following. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Benton was a member of Northwood Temple and was born on Aug. 6, 1920, to James Furney Ward and Laura Stanley Ward in Robeson County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Benton and daughter, Merle Benton Greene. Mrs. Benton is survived by a son, Gary K. Benton and his partner, George T. Elliot; son-in-law, Lonnie Green; two grandchildren, Douglas Ezzell and Vivian Adams; two great-grandchildren, Shanna Blue and Alisha Adams; and two great-great-grand children, Alexis Adams and Christian Blue. Services entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service and Crematory, Inc. of Fayetteville.
