Mrs. Betty E. Runner, 77, of Fayetteville, passed away in her home Wednesday, March 18, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, after a brave struggle with Alzheimerâs disease.
She was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Brunswick, Md., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. and Pearl Logue. She married James Lawrence Runner of Cumberland, Md., on June 9, 1956.
She was always very active in church and served the Lord with gladness. She was the perfect mother and an extraordinary homemaker as well as a devoted wife. She has finally heard the words we all want to from our Lord, âWell done, good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest.â
Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Runner of Fayetteville; daughter, Wendy Shirley, and her husband, John, of Fayetteville; son, Greg Runner and his wife, Debby, of Louisburg; granddaughters, Ashley Epler and her husband, Matthew, of Fayetteville, Hannah Heintzleman and her fiancé, Cody Cook, of Fayetteville, Kristin Bessa and her husband, Christopher, of Fayetteville; grandsons, Kyle Runner and his wife, Amy, of Nashville, Tenn., Christopher Shirley and his wife, Heather, of Fayetteville, Joshua Shirley of Fayetteville and Spec. Justin Shirley of Fort Riley, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Emma Bessa, Ellianna Bessa, Mackinley Bessa, Jacob Epler and Nathan Epler; and her precious dog, Brandy.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today, Friday, March 20, 2015, at Northwood Temple. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today by Rev. Dr. John Hedgepeth. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
