Alice Elston Gomez, 78, of Fayetteville, left to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. She was born in Effingham, Il and served in the Women’s Army Corp.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Oscar Gomez of the home, her sister Mary Pell of Washington, and brother Raymond Elston of Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Elizabeth Summers Elston and Glenn Joseph Elston, and brother Victor Elston.
She was a very loving mother of 6 children, Lisa and Trina Gomez of the home, Michael Gomez and wife Betty of GA, Juanita Maurer and husband Richard of Fayetteville, Gina Pepper and husband Mark of Fayetteville, and Joseph Gomez of the home. Her Grandchildren Joseph, Stephen, and Hannah Gomez, Rheannon Maurer, Alex, Jordan, and Gabrielle Pepper, Great Grandchildren Hailey and Jayden Maurer.
She opened her arms and home to all who entered. She stayed in prayer for those that were close. Her sweet and gentle nature was known to all.
The family will receive guests and friends in the home on Thursday, April 23 from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm.
A visitation and viewing will take place on Friday, April 24th from 11:45 am - 12:45 pm, with a memorial service immediately following at 1:00 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2844 Village Dr, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cumberland County Council on Older Adults, 339 Devers Street, Fayetteville, NC 28303
