Thomas Tavner Fields, 79, of Troy, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Bert and Lavada Nicely Fields.
Tom was a retired veteran of the US Air Force and the state of North Carolina as a building inspector. He was of the United Methodist denomination.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin Christopher Fields.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Shelby Styers Fields; sons Kevin Jay Fields and wife Glenda of Fayetteville, Thomas J. Fields and wife Barbara of Troy, and William Ray Fields and wife Colleen of Crestview, FL; sister Dale Bennett of Winston Salem; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday, May 24 at First Lutheran Church, 230 S. Second St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
Service: 2:00 PM Saturday, May 24 at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Futterer officiating. Military rites by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
