Mr. Sterling Braxton Millen, 81, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015.
He was born on December 17, 1933, in Calypso, NC to the late Ira Herman Millen and Sara Etta Hall Millen.
He met his wife while working for Radio Shop, in Clinton, NC. They married in 1955, and then moved to Fayetteville in 1967 where they worked for Black and Decker. He retired in 1994. He was a dedicated volunteer assistant fire chief with Raeford Road Volunteer Fire Department Station #6.
He was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. Daddy enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions. He loved traveling and had traveled to all 50 states in his life. He loved to have family dinners. No one ever messed with his newspaper, or bothered him while watching NASCAR racing. He was a hard working and honest man loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Elizabeth Lane Millen. They will be celebrating their 60th anniversary on Thursday, April 30, 2015 in heaven together.
He is also preceded in death by three brothers Tommy Millen, Reaford Millen, and Joe Millen; and two sisters Grace Jordan and Nina Barber.
He is survived by two sons Tony Millen, of Clinton, NC and Leon Millen, and wife Tabitha, of Roseboro, NC; two daughters Judy Price, of Fayetteville, NC and Lesley Millen, of Fayetteville, NC; 10 grandchildren, and two-great grandchildren; two brothers Howard Millen, of Hayes, VA and Johnny Millen, of Newton Grove, NC; one sister Magdalene Waters, of Gloucester, VA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Services. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
