Robert Alford Hasty Sr. died Saturday, November 29, 2014 after a long illness. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Following the service the family will receive friends in the church parlor.
Born November 6, 1930, he was the son of Colin Andrew and Elizabeth Alford Hasty, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Frances Mintz Hasty; three children: Elizabeth âBetsyâ Gustafson and her husband, Jack, and their children, Anders, Scotty and Alex, of Charlotte; Margaret Elliott and her husband, Jeff , of Chesapeake, Va.; Rob Hasty and his wife, Yiotta, and daughter, Lia; and a sister, Faye Currie, of Havre, Montana.
He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church Chapel, where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and in various other capacities including church treasurer and was a faithful member of the menâs Calvin Class.
Fondly known as âBobâ to family and friends, he was retired from First Citizens Bank as an assistant vice president. He had a passion for flying and aviation and held a commercial pilotâs license. He served on the Fayetteville Airport Commission and was commission chairman during the first major expansion of Fayetteville Regional Airport. He was a veteran of the Army with service in Germany.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church 102 Ann Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
