Mr. Richard âDickâ Allen Bowers, 80, of Eastover, NC, passed away on Friday, May 01, 2015, at his home.
He was born on September 19, 1934, to the late Raymond E. Bowers Sr., and Myrl Pancoast Bowers in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was U.S. Air Force Veteran receiving numerous medals and commendations.
He came to Fayetteville in the early 1960âs to work for Western Union before working for the Fayetteville Observer. He was a retired Graphic Artist with Fort Bragg.
He was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church since 1963. He served on many committees to include; ushering, home bound visitation, Sunday School Teacher, and Operation-In-As-Much.
He was very active in the Eastover Civic Club. He was an avid bicyclist and loved landscaping. Dick and Jane loved traveling with their friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers Donald Bowers and Raymond Earl Bowers Jr. and one sister Lena Adcox.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jane Cromartie Bowers, of the home; one daughter Leah B. Ghedir, and husband Salem, of Raleigh, NC; one son Brian Scott Bowers, and wife Cindy, of Vander, NC; one granddaughter Amber Tart and one grandson Alex Ghedir; one brother Robert John Bowers, and wife Bonnie, of Morgantown, WVa; and two sisters Janet Smith, and Becky Deusenberry, and husband Ronnie, all of Morgantown, WVa; one sister-in-law Carol Cromartie, of
Sunset Beach, NC; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Gathering Hall of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. John Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
