Mr. Maurice Leslie Suggs, 74 of the Cedar Creek Community of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Maurice was born on October 4, 1942 in Cumberland County, NC to the late Lubie and Julia Horne Suggs.
He was a lifelong member of Judson Missionary Baptist Church. Maurice retired from Civil Service at Fort Bragg. He was a member of the Tarheel Late Great Chevy Car Club, the South River Antique Tractor Club, the Classic Antique Power Tractor Club and the Gulf Historical Society. Maurice also had a deep love for Operation Christmas Child and was a faithful volunteer for the shoeboxes ministry for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Jake Suggs, Leonard Suggs, and Byron Suggs; sister-in-law Debbie Suggs.
Leaving behind to cherish his memories is his wife of over 50 years Virginia Toman Suggs, of the home; one sister Ursie Smith, Vander, NC; brother and sister-in-law W.C. and Maxine Toman, Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Judson Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Brookshire officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
