Martin J. Balsamo, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away on November 30, 2015, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born on March 19, 1949, in Freeport, IL, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Georgia and Nick Balsamo.
After proudly serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, he worked at Goodyear as an Analyst for 41 years. He was always quick with a joke. He had a great love for people and a generous spirit. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Marty is survived by his wife, Marian Giuffre Balsamo of Fayetteville; daughters, Christina Heir and husband Dan of Apex, Michelle Walden and husband Kirk of Fayetteville; granddaughters, Emily Heir and Emily Walden; grandsons, Jacob Heir and Alex Walden; sister, Tess Dahm and husband Kevin of Freeport, IL; brothers, Jim Balsamo and wife Carol of Hermitage, TN, Tony Balsamo and wife Bobbi of Freeport, IL, and Phil Balsamo and wife Elaine of Freeport, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service officiated by Pastor Matthew Bradham is scheduled for noon, on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service.
