M. Lee Warren, Jr, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Harnett County on March 4, 1930 to the late Marshall Lee and Leone Warren, Sr.. He was preceded in death by his wife Elinor Varnedoe Warren and his brother, Richard Warren.
He graduated from Fayetteville High School and following his military service he attended Campbell College. He then worked with Trailways Bus Line. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, where he was an active member.
Lee is survived by Elinor’s son, Steve Varnedoe and wife Wanda of Wake Forest; and her four grandchildren, David Varnedoe, IV of Raleigh, Stephen Varnedoe and wife Jennifer of Charlotte, Mary Thomas Varnedoe of Willmington, and Ben Varnedoe and wife Anna of Greensboro; and the friends and staff at the North Carolina Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville.
A graveside service, officiated by Rev. John Cook, is scheduled for 10 am on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
