Mr. Leon Axler 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Axler was the owner-operator of Boone Trail Thrift Mart and was locally known as the âsteak manâ. He started business with Axlerâs Market on Ramsey St. and moved to Boone Trail Thrift Mart in the 60âs. For over 50 years along with his wife, Sonja they imported and supplied the international community with a variety of products from Germany and Europe.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Jan 10, 2014 at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Home followed by burial at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Axler was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja Erika Axler.
He is survived by his sons, Phillip Axler and Marion âMosheâ Axler; daughter Harriett Axler Butts and fiancé Darrell Easley; three grandchildren, Chrissy Buie and wife Stephanie Buie, Candi Stephens and husband Lee Stephens, Michelle Butts and fiancé Nate Pike; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Buie and Walker Stephens; brother Joseph Axler, sisters Esther Miller, Rachel Buchholz, Dorothy Apicella; special friend of the family, Roxie Garner.
