Joe E. Newsome, Sr., 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, in the VA Medical Center.
He was born on March 15, 1925, in Wilson, NC, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette and Lou Newsome.
He proudly served in the US Army as a machine gunner. He fought in combat at the Battle of The Bulge. Joe was a servant of the city of Fayetteville. He was a Captain with the fire department for over 40 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Wiseman Newsome of Fayetteville; daughters Margaret Ann Manges and husband Gene of Kissimmiee, FL, Doris Cabrel of Vass; sons, Joe Newsome, Jr. and significant other Beth of Manning, SC, Roland Newsome and wife Anne of Charlotte; and 9 grandchildren.
The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
