Mr. James Yglesias, 94, of Sanford, North Carolina, formerly of Brooklyn Heights, New York, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Fayetteville, NC.
He was born on January 9, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Justo Yglesias and Josefa Garcia Yglesias.
He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and was the recipient of The Purple Heart, The Bronze Star, and numerous medals and commendations.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anita Nieto Yglesias.
Surviving to cherish his memories are one son James Justo Yglesias and wife Kim, of San Jose, California; one daughter Denise Yglesias Varela and husband Richard, of Sanford, North Carolina; one sister Mary Cordero, of Port Richie, Florida; one brother Tito Yglesias, of Rockville Center, New York; five grandchildren Richard and wife Pam, James and wife Sophia, Christopher Varela and Ana and Christina Yglesias; four great-grandchildren Lucy, Beckett, Donovan and Kaleb.
A memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. Johnâs Episcopal Church with Rev. Robert Alves officiating. The family will receive friends in the Kyle House following the service. Burial will occur at a later date in Grace Episcopal Church, Brooklyn Heights, New York.
