Mr. James âTinkâ Alfred Knott, 81, of Fayetteville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cumberland County, NC on April 13, 1933 to the late Will Knott and Mary Sherman Knott.
He was a retired auto mechanic with Sears and a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a member of New Testament Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was also preceded in death by three children Gerry Bradshaw, Doddie Williams and Ann Doyen; four sisters Sarah Leonard, Polly Godwin, Peggy Allen and Barbara Fleming; one granddaughter Heather Doyen; and one great-grandson Jackson Sweeney.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Minnie Lou Nivens Knott, of the home; two daughters Barbara Maynor and husband Ronald, and Jackie Chapman, both of Fayetteville, NC; four sons Glenn Moore and wife Debbie, of El Paso, TX, Steve Moore, George Moore and wife Susie, and Frankie Moore, all of Fayetteville, NC; one brother John Knott, of New Bern, NC; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at New Testament Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Counts officiating.
